HEATHER HANNA MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Provided by The Hanna Family

Description:
Heather Hanna was an North Thurston High School graduate, class of 1977. She was a creative soul – a singer, poet, and all around bohemian who lived and loved fully. Her life was cut short by a drunk driver, four days short of her 21st birthday while going to college in Bellingham. This scholarship is a tribute to her memory and a small way of encouraging young people to live with the awareness and purpose she did. Selection Criteria: The recipient of this scholarship shall be a graduate of North Thurston High School and must be pursuing a continuing education in the field of creative arts. The recipient cannot be related to the Hanna family through birth or marriage. Additional selection criteria will include a demonstrated passion for the arts, any social/humanitarian work, and some financial need. Application materials should include a letter of interest addressing the selection criteria and at least one letter of recommendation preferably from a NTHS teacher from which the student has taken a class. Examples of artistic passions (poems, pictures of artwork, video or audio recordings) are encouraged.
