Joe Richer's teaching, counseling and coaching career in Everett spanned 30 years, motivating hundreds of students and athletes to strive for perfection and to develop character while enjoying competition. Joe was a true "Favorite Son" of Everett High School and was beloved by all who were privileged to know him. Joe attended Everett Schools through high school, graduating from Everett High in 1961 where he captained basketball and golf teams, leading both to state tournaments. He went on to Captain basketball and golf teams at Western Washington University. Joe died suddenly in 1998. In his honor and memory, the basketball court at Everett High was named Richer Court and an annual scholarship was established.
