Sherman Clayton Memorial Scholarship

Provided by Columbia Basin Foundation

Description:
Sherman Clayton was part of the Ephrata community for over 30 years. He enjoyed impacting the youth in both his church and Ephrata High School. For 25 years he announced the Tiger basketball games; a voice that was recognized by even the visiting teams. The Tigers truly had a home court advantage with his enthusiastic announcing. Sherman also had a passion for music. In his youth, he assembled a band and played the guitar. He continued to play music with family and friends whenever opportunities arose. Sherman Clayton touched many lives throughout his life by playing music and announcing Tiger basketball games. This scholarship is in memory of Sherman, assisting to further the education of an Ephrata High School graduate who has participated in the basketball program OR has been a part of the Ephrata High School band or choir. Grants are made with the understanding that the applicant will enroll in, and complete, a minimum of 12 credit hours each term. The applicant agrees that a proportional part of the grant will be refunded to Columbia Basin Foundation if the student does not complete full-time coursework during any term.
